Manager's Report

The New Year traditionally brings with it resolutions to improve oneself. I have been talking to many members over the year regarding ways to improve our golf experience, and I have come up with 10 resolutions that I would like you to join me in implementing for 2005. Let us all resolve:

• To complete my round of 18 holes in 4 hours or less.
• To adhere to our dress code (no Jeans!).
• To turn my cell phone off or, at least, on mute.
• To keep my cart behind the green line and on the path around the tees.
• To repair at least 2 ball marks per green.
• To replace my divots and to rake the traps.
• To play “ready golf” and to keep up with the group ahead.
• To drive my cart in the rough and path as much as possible.
• To make starting times and keep them (and to call ahead if canceling).
• To respect and obey our marshals.

Please help make your golf experience enjoyable for yourself and others by adhering to the above resolutions. Our marshals will now be enforcing our policies to those who break the rules-whether they are members or guests.

A special thank you goes to the Fredenberg, Ashworth, Fisher, Berger, Black, Carter, Richard, Lizzotte, Albee, Koda, Tankersley, D. Bell, and Salisbury families for donating to our employee Christmas Fund. A warm thanks from all of our 47 employees!

Welcome New Members!

A warm Castle Creek welcome to the following members who joined last month:

Oh's Tee Shots

Those of you who played during December no doubt noticed the completion of the new back tees on #2 and #16. We will be continuing our restoration and lengthening of the tees on #4, #6, #9, #11, #12, #15 and #17 during the next few months. In addition, we will continue our replacement of bunker sand as time allows. The practice cage will have a cement platform with a hitting mat installed during the latter part of the month.

Every evening I try to play a few holes and it literally sickens me when I see all the unreplaced divots, particularly on holes #3, 13, and 16. Please help me out when playing by replacing as many divots as possible. Replacing divots, not just filling them with sand, is critical during the winter. Thanks in advance for your help!

News From The View

By popular demand, we have added our “Circle R” steak selections to the permanent menu. Dinner hours will remain the same, with Chicken, Pot Roast, Fish Fry, and Prime Rib continuing as our daily specials from Wednesday through Saturday. Don’t forget to sign up for our Super Bowl Golf Tournament and Party, scheduled this year on Feb. 6 th. This is always a sell-out, so sign up now with Harmony in the club office.

Army Ellis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Army Ellis in Port Orange Florida, while staying with his son. Army follows the passing of his wife Nora, who died earlier this year, Army and Nora were long time fixtures at Castle Creek and Circle R, being involved with all aspects of membership, including serving on the club’s boards. There will be a memorial service at the club on January 14 th at 1:00 PM. All members and friends are invited to attend.

Potpourri

• Saturday’s Member times have been moved to a warmer 7:30-8:30.
• Did you know that the temperature is 12-14 degrees colder by the creek than it is by the clubhouse? During the recent frost, it was down in the teens. Brrrrr….
• Member Cliff Bernard is the running back coach for the 2004 CIF champion Vista Panthers, who recently beat Brawley for the division III title at Qualcomm Stadium. Cliff also coached a nationally ranked Pop Warner team featuring our marshal, JimSimmons’ grandson that went to the championship in Florida. Congratulations, Cliff!
